"Hello, this is Sara Mansholt at CCNow replying to your earlier E-mail message.  The ordering process at CCNow is automated, and the interchange between merchant banks and issuing banks is also automated.  Therefore, in most cases the only person who ever sees the credit card number with their eyes is the customer himself, when he types it in.

Exceptions are:  cases where we receive a billing inquiry and need to look up the order based on a credit-card search.

But under normal circumstances, the credit card number and other details don't even have to be looked at by anyone, all the way from the customer to his issuing bank.
